Large gas plume at Sherman Crater

This view of Mount Baker was taken from the top of Taylor Street in Bellingham near sunset on May 7th, 2010. The plume is by far dominated by water vapor. However, atmospheric conditions must have been very calm to allow the plume to rise 1000 feet.

There was no seismic activity reported at Pacific Northwest Seismic Center’s Baker site.
