SHUK seismometer is up and running

The Mount Baker seismometer station ‘SHUK’ is once again up and running, and  sending data to Pacific Northwest Seismic Network. CVO installed a replacement GPS unit on Tuesday, 12/28, which allows precise timing of events recorded by the instrument. This instrument is to the east of the volcano.

Realtime telemetered data can be seen on webicorder displays at

Data for SHUK as well as MBW (the old-faithful unit on the west flank of Baker) are now available as well as recorded data for the rest of the monitored volcanoes in the US portion of the arc.

The broad band seismometer (SHUK) rests in a covered container on the east flank of Mount Baker. Click to enlarge.
